Most Common Questions and Answers about the website

1. Why use QuickTime instead of a non-plug-in viewer?
There are several systems for viewing interactive photographic material and most of them require plug-ins or special viewers. Java applets can be used to eliminate the need for plug-ins, however, we have run comparative tests and are satisfied that QuickTime provides the best picture quality by far, especially for the file sizes which we present on our pages. This helps us deliver the best quality images in a reasonable time to those visitors using low speed modems.

2. Why is there nothing clickable on the maps?
Most maps do not have clickable items or hotspots, underlined text is clickable and will provide navigation instead. This is to encourage visitors to read the text and learn as much as possible about Gibraltar. It also avoids the possibility of some older browsers not loading the clickable areas properly.

3. Why do you not provide a larger version of photographs?
This site contains hundreds of photographs which would require massive amounts of server space if larger versions where available. We have made a decision to keep server space available for the addition of many more pages as the website grows.

4. Printing pages is difficult and consumes all my blue ink, is there a solution?
Please see the section on PRINTING PAGES.

5. Why do you not provide details about accommodation, shopping and excursions as well as timetables and opening times etc. ?
This entire website is the work of Professional Photographer Jim Crone. His work for the website includes, photography, collation of source material and construction of the web pages, all of this involves many hours of labour. To be constantly updating information such as time tables, excursions, places to stay etc. would be an extra burden, and unnecessary since there are other good Gibraltar websites which include this information. Google will help you find these alternative websites.
