| The model is 8 meter's long at a scale of 1/600 or 1inch = 50ft which represents the almost 3 mile length of Gibraltar
It was completed in 1865 from a survey by Lient. Charles Waren R.E. under the direction of Major General Frome R.E. it was coloured after nature by Captain B.A. Branfill of 86 Regiment 1868. |
This view shows the Neutral Ground leading from Spain to the north face of the Rock. The old lagoon has now been covered with blocks of modern housing. The overall change to this area is extensive, with the airport and runway occupying most of this land today.
Almost all of the walled fortifications shown on the model still exist today. |
