Model of Gibraltar view 20 (1865)
This view shows the north face of the Rock with its totally sheer cliff. The top has always been a military observation post and remains out of bounds today.		Lower down the cliff can be seen a vertical pillar of rock attached to the main rock face. This is known as the Notch in which canons were placed after extensive tunnelling during the early 18 century.
